Immerse yourself in the history of Moritzburg Palace...

August the Strong was a passionate collector of precious hunting trophies. It is therefore no surprise that one of Europe’s most significant collections of hunting trophies is housed in Moritzburg Palace. During the guided tour of the Baroque floor, you can admire this special highlight up close. 

In addition, magnificent ballrooms and ornate 18th-century gold-leather tapestries await you. The splendid wall hangings adorn 13 rooms of the palace. They depict scenes from ancient mythology, including the goddess of the hunt, Diana.

Yet Augustus the Strong collected not only hunting trophies, but also exquisite porcelain. During the tour, you will be granted exclusive access to the porcelain quarters and can admire his collection of hunting motifs and animal figures, predominantly made of Meissen porcelain. These are almost exclusively 18th-century originals.

Another highlight is the famous and globally unique ‘Feather Room’, which invites you to an individual visit: over a million coloured bird feathers have been woven into magnificently patterned decorations for the ceremonial four-poster bed and the wall hangings.
