The Magic Flute in a new light - miniopera in the Wallpavillon of the Dresden Zwinger Palace

PREMIERE April, 3, 2027, 5 pm - “The Magic Flute in a new light” in the Wallpavillon of the Dresden Zwinger

What happens when Mozart's grand fairy-tale opera is stripped of its stage sets, temples, and dragons, and focused on its essence? When no elaborate scenery guides the imagination, but rather music, language, and a few instruments open up the space? "The Magic Flute with a Twist" is a chamber opera for soloists, our chamber ensemble, and a presenter. It is reduced—and gains in intensity precisely because of this reduction. A presenter guides the audience through the plot, connecting scenes, providing context, commenting, and questioning—sometimes with a twinkle in their eye, sometimes poetically, sometimes surprisingly topical.

The spoken passages replace dialogues, creating pace and a clear narrative thread through Tamino's trials, Pamina's doubts, and Papageno's very earthly longings. The result is not a scenic spectacle, but a musical storytelling theater. The moderation is in German.

Ou miniopera is also available as "Concert & Dinner", available until 4 days befor the concert takes place. The concert hall Wallpavillon is located on the upper level of the Dresden Zwinger Palace. Please note that both - the concert hall and the toilets - have no disability access.

The first three rows are reserved for guest in our VIP category. In this category there is included a voucher for a glass of sparkling wine or a drink of your choice in the intermission.

Our minioperas last about 100 minutes including a little break. The concert hall will opened 60 min. before the performance start.

The concert takes place indoors. 

Seating in the hall is free. Every seat is occupied without a gap.
