Althoernitz Castle Hotel
A jewel in the Zittau Mountains

Althoernitz Castle Hotel is nestled in a vast park landscape at the easternmost point of Saxony, where Germany borders on Poland and the Czech Republic. The castle walls are steeped in history. You can explore the intriguing designs of the relaxing hotel rooms and enjoy regional specialties at the »Hoernitzer Schlosstube« restaurant.

The master architect Valentin from Zittau built Althoernitz Castle over 350 years ago for Christian von Hartig, whose son conducted alchemy experiments with Ehrenfried Walther von Tschirnhaus and Johann Friedrich Boettger. These experiments made a significant contribution to the invention of European porcelain.

Althoernitz Castle is now a haven of tranquility with an unforgettable atmosphere. Both the Oberlausitzer Heide- und Teichlandschaft UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the Zittau Mountains are perfect for hiking, cycling and exploring, and you can take a day trip to the nearby cities of Dresden, Bautzen, Goerlitz, Prague and Wrocław.
