One hundred fountain complexes are situated throughout the Baroque garden making Lichtenwalde Park one of Germany’s most beautiful park ensembles. Experience a symphony of rustling leaves, splashing water and the sweet scent of flowers.
Approaching the castle from the park’s avenue, one is left almost speechless by the impressive layout of this peaceful green paradise. While aptly illustrating the transition from Baroque to Rococo, the terraced park, however, the visitor’s eyes is attracted time and again by antique amphoras, statues and circular flower beds or it is drawn from the artificial garden itself to the real nature of the Zschopau River valley below.
Today, the »Treasury« Museum recounts of foreign or long gone cultures on three floors. You should by no means miss all these art objects and ritual items from Nepal and Tibet, pieces of porcelain, lacquered items, furniture and silk embroidery from China and Japan, burial objects and ghost masks from West Africa – as well as one of the largest and most comprehensive silhouette collections in Germany.
