In the middle of the 16th century, the romantic fortification from the 13th century had been converted to a hunting lodge by Maurice of Saxony. Since then, historical building phases have been merging at Klippenstein Castle - from Classicism via Renaissance and back to Gothic times.
The flat equestrian staircases provided their knightly users with a maximum amount of comfort and allowed the knights to reach the castle court on horseback. Located near the Radeberg Export Brewery - once a purveyor to the Saxon royal court - Klippenstein Castle has been standing in all its splendor once again since 2012.
Today, Klippenstein Castle attracts numerous visitiors by its museum of the history of the castle and its surrounding town.
