Klippenstein Castle
A Huntsman’s Fortune

When the 13th-century fortifications in Radeberg were converted into a hunting lodge with an impressive equestrian staircase at the behest of Maurice, Elector of Saxony, Klippenstein Castle became a meeting place for many a noble hunting party. The castle subsequently served as a residential and official residence for the Saxon electors. Its appearance has been shaped by the Gothic, Renaissance and Classicism periods – and its ancient walls now house the Museum of Castle and Town History. A unique experience is to be had at the »Industrial City of Radeberg« exhibition and changing special exhibitions. There are also several activities for young castle fans, such as the »Middle Ages Experience Day« and an exciting treasure hunt with the castle ghost, Klippi. You can round off your visit with a refreshingly quick detour to the former court brewery, which inspired the Saxon kings in the past.
