Wildenfels Castle
Gleaming Oriental Silk

The »Blue Salon« at Wildenfels Castle exudes the aura of the Arabian Nights, as curve-billed birds and exotic plants are portrayed on precious silk tapestries. The »Chinese Cabinet« features colorful floral tendrils and chinois figures in opulent robes. The true highlights of the little castle in the Ore Mountains are the unique 18th-century wallpapers and silk tapestries. Wildenfels Castle was built on the walls of a fortress from over 800 years ago. The castle’s glamorous past is evidenced by the elaborate ceiling paintings, murals and overdoors. A range of concerts, readings and lectures are held in the castle hall with its magnificent furnace made of Meissen porcelain. Anyone interested in contemporary regional art will get their money’s worth in the Castle Gallery.
