Schlosshotel Gaußig
A noble experience
Anybody who wishes to spend some days relaxing and at the same time experience an aristocratic lifestyle will have found their dream domicile here. Gaussig, one of the most prominent palaces in Upper Lusatia, is now a spacious hotel which combines the spirit of past times with today‘s demands for comfort and luxury.
First mentioned in 1245 as a residence for nobility, the essential features of a large castle built here in 1700 are still to be seen. Dresden courtiers such as the von Neitschuetz family, the Imperial Count Heinrich von Bruehl or the Russian envoy Hermann Carl Count von Keyserlingk have left their artistic imprint on the grounds since the Baroque era.
Gaußig experienced its last great reconstruction at the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th centuries, when the regional master of building works and the exiled Scottish nobleman James Ogilvy Earl of Findlater reformed the Baroque palace and the park in the style of Palladium Classicism.
Today the glorious manor house with its 30 hectares of landscaped park, elegant halls, salons and historic visitors‘ rooms is accommodation with an aristocratic atmosphere, guaranteeing a special kind of stay. Festivals with a noble touch, meetings in relaxed surroundings or simply a weekend with exquisite food, relaxation in the spa area and a walk in the palace park the Palace Hotel Gaussig, owned today by the family of the Count von Bruehl-Pohl, is open to all who wish for a stay which is anything but usual.
