Dresden Royal Palace
Where the Arts Reside

Dresden’s old town features one of the most important castles from the Renaissance period, Dresden Royal Palace, which has been a cultural center since the 15th century as the former seat of electors and kings. Dresden Royal Palace has since been restored to its former splendor after being almost completely destroyed during the bombing of Dresden in 1945. It’s home to one of the largest art collections in Europe: the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. Visitors can discover the legacy of a glorious era in the Green Vault, the Royal Parade Rooms, the Renaissance Wing, the Turkish Chamber and the Giant Hall of the Armory. Some of the other attractions behind the palace’s walls include the Coin Cabinet and the Copper Cabinet. What’s more, visitors can enjoy a unique panoramic view of Dresden from the 100-meter Hausmann Tower.
