The past comes to life at Nossen Castle. Medieval flair awaits the visitors, with tournament competitions by foot or on horseback, actors, music, jugglers and colorful market vendors.

Jugglers, talented handcrafts and widely traveled traders enliven the newly-arranged castle courtyard. Market with merchants, jesters, goliards and tradespeople from near and far.

Up to 35,000 crimson red blossoms are produced by the over 250 year-old Japanese Camellia. In winter it is protected by a moveable greenhouse. In the warmer seasons the greenhouse is then rolled off to the side of the Camellia. During its blossoming period, offshoots of Pillnitz’s Camellia, which is well-known far beyond the borders of its »home garden«, can be bought.

The special exhibition for the 550th anniversary of the establishment of the frontier between Saxony and Bohemia in 2009, which is one of the oldest and most stable frontiers in Europe. The cross-border project with the Decin castle (Czech Republic) shows linking and separating aspects, as well as the mutual inspiration of culture and society.
